Series That Help Girls To Be Bolder

Most series I watch have a strong female lead. She is opinionated, bold, and real. She messes up, learns, and grows. She is well educated or prioritizes education, is interested in her career, eager to balance family, friends, and work, travels, appreciates beauty, and often has an intercultural aspect. Well, it is kind of me.

Here is a list of what I recently binge-watched as I needed to reload:

Partner Track

The serie surfaces every single problem that a young professional woman goes through in a company with male dominance. The movie is pure gold. A guide on how to speak up and be seen and heard. It also promotes an important point that women have to support, promote each other, and form allies, just like men do in a natural way. The movie also touches the topic of real diversity in the workplace vs pretentious corporate programs in the diversity and inclusion space.

Masaba Masaba

It is a series about Indian fashion designer Masaba Gupta (1.7M Instagram followers) who owns a label called House of Masaba and who is a daughter of famous Indian actress Neena Gupta  (1M Instagram followers). Both ladies play themselves in the movie! Love them both for their boldness. This is the most ingenious and refreshing marketing for a fashion brand and PR for a public figure. How else would I ever learn about her? And now I am obsessed.

The Bold Type

I really liked it. I wish I had watched it when I was in the age of the girls (26-27 years old). The action takes place in the office of a successful women's magazine, which is going through a business transition to digital. It is like a crash course on everything that young women of today go through, while navigating their professional and personal journey.

We all need a role model. Not seeing an example of people who reached what we want to reach - makes us doubt if it is possible to reach at all.

Having an easy access to international series that present successful, unapologetic women who stay true to themselves - is a game changer for a new generation of girls.

Thank you, streaming, for letting girls dream bigger!
